Abby holds a conjoint degree in Law and Arts (majoring in Maori Studies) from the University of Auckland, where she was awarded the University of Auckland Chancellor’s Award for Top Scholars. She was an executive member of Te Rākau Ture (the Māori Law Students Association) and is an active member of Te Hunga Roia Māori o Aotearoa.
Abby has been a recipient of Te Rūnanga-ā-Ngāpuhi Scholarship and a graduate of the Ka Eke Poutama – Rangatahi into Governance and Leadership Programme.
Abby was admitted to the bar in December 2018 and received the top marks in New Zealand for the College of Law Client Interviewing assessment.
Prior to joining Kahui Legal, Abby worked for Kayes Fletcher Walker, the Office of the Manukau Crown Solicitor and at the Waitangi Tribunal as an Assistant Registrar and then Deputy Registrar.
Abby holds a certificate in oral Māori language fluency from Te Wānanga Takiura o ngā Kura Kaupapa Māori o Aotearoa and a Diploma in intermediate Māori fluency, Te Aupikitanga ki te reo Kairangi from Te Wānanga o Aotearoa.
Abby is a passionate reo speaker, netballer and enjoys spending time with whānau and friends.
